We’ve gone green!
Recognizing our responsibility for good environmental stewardship, at Metro Metro & Associates (MMA) we continuously look for ways to integrate green practices into our daily business operations. We’re rethinking the way we provide services to lessen our ecological impact without compromising the quality and timeliness that we’ve been delivering for nearly two decades.
Our firm has an ongoing commitment to invest in the latest technology. By converting our old fashioned paper file room to an online filing cabinet, we have not only saved a few trees, we have created two additional staff offices in our building without increasing energy use. We have recently switched to a clean energy contract that supports wind power, rather than coal power, and have also purchased renewable energy certificates (RECs) which makes us part of the EPA’s Green Power Partnership (http://www.epa.gov/greenpower/) and qualifies us as 100% wind powered - reducing our carbon footprint and improving the health of our community. These and our other commitments to technology benefits not only the environment but our clients and staff as well.
Simply stated, MMA’s Green Mission is:
To find & implement new ways to build a more sustainable business operation
while promoting eco-awareness within our company and surrounding community
To execute that mission, we’ve also established the following Green Goals:
- Demonstrate responsible environmental performance by controlling the impact of our activities, products and services
- Better understand the needs of our community
- Capitalize on technological advances to improve the management of our resources—including recycling energy and waste products—as well as our process efficiency
- Focus on reducing paper use and energy consumption in our workplace
- Integrate the green initiative into our core accounting practices
- Identify ways to achieve a higher level of environmental responsibility
- Involve and inform employees about our green efforts through information and events to ensure awareness within the firm and increase participation.
- Sponsor Green Events to widen our circle of influence and improve the quality of life in our communities.
To help ensure that we incorporate green practices that best fit our business environment, we’ve partnered with green living consulting, a DC-based company that helps businesses and households adopt eco-practices.
